Channel 4 'The Interview' Guru offers free CV and interview advice

Welsh youngsters receiving their GCSE results this week are being offered free advice on their CV and interview skills by a local businessman infamous for his prowess in this field.

Rod Lloyd, managing director of Low Cost Vans (LCV), starred in reality TV series ‘The Job Interview’ on Channel 4. He will be running mock interviews and a CV workshop for students receiving their GCSE results this week – whether they got the grades they wanted or not.

The offer will run in early September, and is open to any teenagers receiving their GCSE results this week, as well as A-level students who received their results last week – regardless of if they botched them or passed with flying colours. With decades of recruiting experience under his belt, Lloyd has a talent for being able to see from the perspective of the employer and the candidate alike.

Students will be able to visit LCV’s headquarters in Neath and take part in a ‘job interview’ with Lloyd – afterwards they will be given advice on how to improve their performance. They also have the chance to submit their CV’s for catered critique and gain some valuable insight from seasoned industry professionals.

Although all students receiving their GCSEs are welcome, the hope is that those who maybe didn’t get the results they wanted will come along and get some effective and tangible advice to help improve their future career prospects.

Rod Lloyd stressed the importance of inspiring the next generation by offering them the help they need. He said:

“Not every student who opens that envelope on Thursday will get the results they wanted, and we’re here to tell them that you can still achieve your dreams.

“I wanted to be a cartographer, but my exam results didn’t go too well and now I employ 44 people in my hometown of Neath. My advice is that whatever your results are, this is only the beginning – the opportunities are still there.

“I’ve interviewed 100s of people over the years, and I know what it takes to impress an employer – I see it as our commitment to the next generation to teach them how to do it.”
